VMware Stack Architect

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced VMware Stack Architect to design, implement, and manage robust virtualization and cloud solutions that meet our organization's evolving IT infrastructure needs. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of VMware solutions, cloud architectures, and data center operations, with a proven track record of optimizing system performance, scalability, and security in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture & Design:
  • Develop and architect comprehensive VMware stack solutions, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite.
  • Design and document end-to-end virtualization and cloud infrastructure, aligning with business requirements, scalability, and reliability goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create architecture roadmaps, aligning VMware solutions with the company's IT strategy.
• Implementation & Integration:
  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and integration of VMware solutions across data center and cloud environments.
  • Ensure seamless integration of VMware solutions with other infrastructure, networking, and storage components.
  • Optimize virtualization resources, including CPU, memory, and storage, to support high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
• Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune VMware infrastructure for peak performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks or vulnerabilities.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Establish best practices for capacity planning and load balancing.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Implement security standards within VMware environments, ensuring adherence to data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to enforce security protocols, including access controls, encryption, and monitoring.
• Automation & Innovation:
  • Leverage VMware automation tools to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and enhance efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with VMware product advancements and industry trends, recommending upgrades and improvements.
• Documentation & Training:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of architectures, processes, and configurations.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• VMware certifications (such as VCP, VCAP, or VCDX) are strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of experience with VMware solutions and data center architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize Suite, and associated VMware tools.
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and integration with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of networking, storage, and security principles in virtualized environments.
• Proficient in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerCLI, vRealize Automation).
• Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to translate technical concepts for stakeholders.
• Proven track record of delivering complex VMware projects on time and within budget.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerization solutions.
• Familiarity with additional cloud-native and DevOps tools and technologies.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR).
